Heisenberg is the name that the character Walter White adopts in the hugely successful TV show Breaking Bad. He is a chemistry teacher but one day learns that he has lung cancer and is forced into making meth to support his family. The character is played by Bryan Cranston who left from comedy into this serious role without any hesitation.

Breaking bad was first shown on January 20th 2008 and is currently on its final series which makes a total of 5 seasons. The final season is different in that it has been split into 2 different parts that each have 8 episodes in each. It is due to begin in the summer this year (2013) and fans are very excited about its return to the screen.
Breaking Bad has won lots of awards including 7 Primetime Emmy Awards and Heisenberg Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston has on 3 consecutive occasions won the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series Emmy. He has also been nominated 3 times for a Golden Globe Award for the Best Actor in a TV series.
The show was written by Vince Gilligan who also wrote The X-Files. He wanted to create a show that purposely couldn’t last forever and says he will miss it when it’s over but looking forward to not having to think of Walt (Walter White) so much.
